Like Dizzo, I'm also returning to the Parade's first birthday and the Minis Worldwide event as it seems appropriate to celebrate this historical landmark with another local landmark: the Australian Reptile Park :)

An Australian Adventure, Part 1

Okay so I'm going to throw my hat into this reccing ring!  When we celebrated our first birthday here at [livejournal.com profile] spn_on_parade we held a 'Minis Worldwide' event where we invited our fabulous members to give us a little feel of where they live through the medium of minis.

It was a week of international fun and whimsy ... check out our 'Minis Worldwide' tab to relive the mini-madness sans frontieres.

However, for my part, here in the UK, I happen to live very close to a historically significant sci-fi landmark and during our special week,  I took my little brats to visit it as part of the celebrations.

And here is the result!

As it's the last day of our celebrations, I just had to include this amazing comic strip by the awesome [livejournal.com profile] kinkthatwinked, posted as part of our Minis Worldwide challenge a couple of years ago. If you ever get the chance, check out every one of her posts on this comm, you won't be disappointed! Her minis are so cute and of course, can 'move' more than their Funko Pop versions - and wear a variety of outfits! Finally, I'd just like to thank her for adding her cute, clever and funny art to our comm.

Fair warning, there are three drawings under the cut, so it may take a while to load. I hope you enjoy.

I thought I'd choose one of the posts I did for our 'Minis Worldwide' extravaganza back in 2015 for today's greatest hit! Here goes...

For our last instalment of the "Minis Guide", we will be visiting two of my favourite London markets - Covent Garden and Camden.
Covent Garden is famous for it's market, shops, restaurants, the Royal Opera House and amazing street theatre.
Camden has it's lock and   canal boat trips, it has various wonderful markets, both indoor and outdoor, and fabulous food stalls, selling everything from Argentinian steaks to vegan food.

Many of the shops in Camden are decorated and look awesome,

Well, our anniversary week came and went with a truly international bang.  In response to our Minis Worldwide celebration, Minis all over the world (and their awesome owners) joined in the party!

We three mods, milly_gal, jj1564 and dizzojay want to thank you all so much for making our little comm's first anniversary such a memorably mad and memorably mini occasion with your posts and comments that kept the comm buzzing; who would have thought that a bunch of little plastic people could spread so much love and laughter over so great a distance! As we said on numerous occasions, this party was for you guys!

We wouldn't want you to miss a single one of the posts that we enjoyed this week, and so here they are, all gathered together in this master post.  I hope I've collected all of them, but if I have missed anything or any of the links are broken, please tell me so that I can fix it.

Fun, Fun, FUN! )

As promised, to end my minis contribution to The Minis Worldwide Celebrations, here we have a
selection of Cockney London songs - my family used to sing these and others at parties!
If you don't know them each song has a link (of varying quality!)
I've made Crowley a Cockney here, he sounds like a Londoner to me!
Get yer laughing gear round this lot...

Today marks the end of our MiniVersary Week; Minis Worldwide, and I'd like to thank everyone who took part, showed us a little of where they live and allowed their tiny plastic peeps out of their cages for the event!

We're blessed with so many wonderful members, both posters and commenter's, and this place would not be any where near as much fun without y'all!

[livejournal.com profile] dizzojay, [livejournal.com profile] jj1564 and I would simply be talking to ourselves and playing with 3 inch high dolls! ;)

From us, your friendly neighbourhood mental cases, to you, thank you!

My little herberts have been amusing themselves today as I've been otherwise engaged.

I came home to find they'd commandeered my laptop and were acquainting themselves with some of the quirkier aspects of their home nation - that is, the British talent for thinking up bizarre, funny and downright rude place names.

Bobby was delighted when he found his home from home.

While we were exploring the Country Park, I took the boys onto the playing field to introduce them to that most British of sports, Rugby Union.  It's the close season for Rugby here in the UK, so the pitch was deserted ... perfect for introducing my minis to this mad and brutal game.

Mini-Dean was impressed.  Too impressed!

In part two of the "Minis Guide" we are moving North of The Thames to visit Westminster, Trafalgar Square and St James's Park.

First up is my favourite modern building in The City of London,
30 St Mary Axe; it looks lovely lit up at night.

Here in my village, we are very fortunate to have Lightwater Country park, a designated nature reserve.  I couldn't celebrate my home and this ausipicious occasion without taking the boys for a visit.

Here's a sign explaining the different types of wild fowl that live at the park.  It doesn't say anything about wild minis though!

Or obnoxious demons ...

My friend Apryl (ennisjackdean) doesn't have any minis of her own :(

But she still wanted to join in the celebrations, (and it's still July 8th in her part of the world) so she sent my minis some photos of her local area. They were very impressed . . . and then puzzled . . .Read more... )
