SPN_ON_PARADE

Mr Dizzo and I headed off t the beautiful village of Avebury for an anniversary lunch today.  Avebury is a unique village, in that it sits inside a prehistoric stone circle, and it's a place that jj1564 and I often talked about as she loved the place as much as I do, but unfortunately hadn't been able to get there in the last few years of her life. 

Under the circumstances, we thought it would be nice to take some of JJ's minis with us just for old time's sake!

I had hoped that June's minis wouldn't lower the tone the way mine always did.

I was wrong.

Our wonderful little corner of crazy, spn_on_parade, is seven years old tomorrow!

For obvious reasons, this birthday is different to all the others our little madhouse has celebrated, but I know jj1564 would want us to mark it as we have every year.

So, just for jolly, here's a little blast from the past.  The Parade was JJ's idea and it was her baby, so to mark our special day, here's a post from 8th of July 2014 - JJ's first post, which happens to be the first post ever at the Parade!

Happy birthday Parade!!

I met with milly_gal today at the Golden Lion in - of all places - Winchester.

We chose the location because this was a favourite haunt of the three of us for meet-ups and Mini shenanigans.  However, this time was different, and difficult.  There was a lot of laughter, a lot of tears and  a lot of wonderful reminiscing about good times with jj1564.  We also inducted Steve, Milly's long-suffering other half into the mini-madness.

In keeping with our previous visits to the Golden Lion, we decided not to raise a glass to JJ's memory...

We raised a mini instead!

Over the last few days, I've been giving some thought to the future of the Parade. 

I must admit, in the first few days following jj1564's passing, I really felt like I didnt have the stomach to carry it on, firstly without Milly, and now without JJ.

However, I've come round to the way of thinking that the Parade was JJ's idea.  She always loved our mini shenanigans so much, and she was so proud of the pleasure that our mini boys gave so many people.  It seems wrong for me to just throw in the towel because she's no longer here.

So, I've decided that the Parade will live on, because I'm pretty certain that's what JJ would have wanted.  We may not run organised events any longer, but I will still post here, and I hope some of you will too.  I'll pop in the occasional caption competition, guess the episode, and I'm sure Cooking with Crowley will be back some time soon.

In the meantime, thank you for your support of the community over the years.  I hope you'll stick with me in the future to keep the Parade rocking and rolling as a fitting legacy for our beautiful JJ.
